This Dessert Inspired Breakfast Smoothie is actually the Cocoa-Almond Smoothie from my colleague Dr. Mark Hyman. It is featured in the 10 Day Detox Diet program.
Today Dr. Hyman and I are sharing this smoothie because a dessert inspired breakfast is AWESOME!
The Cocoa-Almond Smoothie serves one and has the perfect energy combination of protein and healthy fats.
2 or 3 large ice cubes
1 1⁄4 cups unsweetened almond milk
2 tablespoons unsalted, no sugar added almond butter
1 tablespoon chia seeds
2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon coconut oil
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender (my choice is the Vitamix) and blend on high speed until smooth. If you prefer your smoothie thinner simply add a bit more water until desired consistency is reached.
Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
